About Us

Park View Montessori was started by Mrs. Mithra Gunatilaka, who was an A.M.I. diploma holder. After obtaining her diploma, she left for the USA and worked as a Montessori teacher for many years. On her return in 1974, she started this Montessori school as a compassion.

I, after working as a staff nurse for 18 years, after marriage I decided to join my mother-in-law and assist her with the Montessori since 2000. While I was working with her, I noticed that there were many differently able children coming to us. To assist such children, I decided to do a diploma in special education at the Open University. This enabled me to identify children with different abilities and assist them with their development.

My staff consists of qualified, trained teachers with many years of experience to handle any child with special needs. Our Montessori has been instrumental in taking Early Childhood Education to a whole new level with many innovative methods we use.
